Heya! I’m Czar, the founder of Storied House: a small business that started with vintage and is growing into a home for books, paper, ink, fragrance, and more in Corpus Christi, TX.
Bookstores have always been a safe place for me and I’ve loved books for as long as I can remember. One of my favorite childhood memories is going to Borders in downtown San Francisco where once in a while, my mom would treat me to a book. As a child, I could not imagine anything better than to wander those shelves, taking my time, and leaving with something that felt mine to discover.
As I got older, bookstores continued to be places I sought out. At home, in my travels, whenever I needed somewhere to simply spend some time. I love being able to walk into a space without really knowing what I’m looking for and leaving having found something I didn’t expect.
That feeling of discovery is at the heart of Storied House.
Storied House actually began with my love of finding things that already had rich histories before they ever found their way to me. I started selling vintage first online and at markets and eventually opened my booths at The Vintage Pearl and Thia’s Knick Knacks. Over the past few months, I realized that what I loved about the business wasn’t necessarily vintage or objects themselves. It’s the discovery. I love finding something unexpected or curious, learning more about it, and then getting to share it with someone else.
That idea has become the foundation for what I envision Storied House to be.
Storied House is growing into an independent shop centered around thoughtful discovery. We’ll carry books from voices and publishers that the team feel are worth knowing, beautiful but functional stationery, fragrance with stories behind each scent, and things you might not have encountered otherwise.
